I love mousse and I love Jello. I made Mango mousse and fell in love with fruit mousses since then. I have made Mousse with Jelly together before. I made Watermelon Moully (Mousse + Jelly) using fresh watermelon juice which tasted totally awesome. I made banana mousse with strawberry Jello to serve for my daughter's birthday get together and we all loved it. It was super tasty and delicious and a must try.

Here is the recipe..

Makes 20 individual servings

Ingredients :
Banana puree - 1 1/4 cups
Sugar - 3 tablespoons or as required
Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
Whipping cream - 1 cup
Unflavored gelatin - 1 3/4 teaspoons (Substitute with Agar Agar, see note below)
Cold Water - 2 Tablespoons
Instant Strawberry Jello - 1 pack (80 grams)

Boiling Hot Water - 3/4 cup
Ice Cold Water - 3/4 cup
Strawberry - 10

Method :
1. In a mixing bowl add banana puree (Ripe bananas peeled, cut into pieces and pureed.)
2. To this add the sugar and lemon juice and blend well. I use a hand blender.
3. In a small mixing bowl, add 2 Tablespoons cold water. Sprinkle unflavored gelatin on top of it and keep aside for 5 minutes.
4. In a small saucepan add half the banana puree and simmer over low flame. When it is just warm add the gelatin and mix well without any lumps.

5. Once mixed well add it back to the remaining banana puree and mix well.
6. Prepare an ice bath (12 ice cubes in a bowl of cold water) and place the mixing bowl containing banana puree in the ice bath. Keep stirring now and then.

7. Take cold whipping cream in a big bowl and whip it to stiff peaks. (To achieve stiff peaks easily you can place the whip and the bowl in freezer for half an hour before whipping) 8. Add the banana gelatin puree to the whipped cream and whip just until combined. You can even fold with a spoon.
9. Pour 2-3 tablespoons of the banana mousse in small serving bowls or containers. You can even add all of it to one single serving bowl.

10. Wash and hull the strawberries.
11. Cut the strawberries into halves. 
12. Cut a small triangle at the area where the strawberry was hulled (ie. stalk). this will give the strawberry a heart shape.
13. Place each strawberry heart shaped half on top of the banana mousse. Press it gently to sink a bit inside the mousse.


14. Keep this in the refrigerator to chill and set for a minimum for 5-6 hours.
15. Prepare the strawberry jello by adding the jello powder to a mixing bowl. To this add 3/4 cup of boiling water and mix well to combine and dissolve completely.
16. Add 3/4 cup of ice cold water and mix well. The actual jello package directions asks for 1 cup of boiling water and 1 cup of ice cold water but I add 3/4 cups of each to get a bit firmer jello.
17. Let this cool down to room temperature and pour 2-3 Tablespoons on top of the banana mousse. Add more or less till the entire strawberry is covered with the jello.
I closed the dessert with a lid and that put an impression on the top surface :(


18. Refrigerate this for 5-6 hours till completely set.

Enjoy Banana Mousse with Strawberry Jello.

Notes :
1. This dessert can be prepared 2-3 days in advance.
2. Any fruit can be used to prepare mousse and any flavor of jello can be substituted.
