This is a very very simple and easy to prepare chutney and it tastes great with idli and dosa.

Here is the recipe..

Serves 2


Tomato - 2 Large
Green Chilli - 2
Cumin seeds - 1 Teaspoon
Oil - 3 1/2 Teaspoon
Dried whole red chilli - 2
Mustard seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
Curry Leaves - 8
Salt to taste
Asafoetida a pinch

Method :
1. In a saucepan heat 3 teaspoons of oil. Add cumin seeds and green chillis and fry for a minute.
2. Add the tomatoes cut into slices and cook till the tomato turns soft and well cooked.

3. Blend this to a paste by adding salt and without any water once it cools down. I added only one of the green chilli while grinding as I did not want it too spicy.
4. In a small pan heat 1/2 teaspoon oil and add mustard seeds. Let it splutter. Add whole red chilli and curry leaves. Add a pinch of asafoetida.
5. Pour this over the tomato chutney and mix well.
