If you like brownies and if you like cheesecake then this is a bonus as it is a combination of both. cheesecake is now in my list of preferred desserts so I decided to make these brownies as soon as I came across the recipe. The brownie and the cheese layer compliment one another and tastes excellent.

Here is the recipe..

Makes 10 squares

Ingredients :
Butter - 60 grams unsalted
Semi sweet chocolate chips- 58 grams
Sugar - 50 grams
Egg - 1
All purpose flour - 33 grams
Salt - 1/8 teaspoon
Vanilla extract - 1/2 teaspoon

Cream Cheese:
Cream cheese - 225 grams (I used kiri squares)
Sugar - 65 grams
Egg - 1
Vanilla extract - 1/2 teaspoon

Method :
1. Preheat oven to 160C
2. Line baking pan with aluminum foil. I used loaf pan.
3. First prepare brownie layer. In a bowl add butter cut into pieces and the chocolate chips.
4. Place a small saucepan with water on stove and bring to boil. Reduce flame and let the water simmer.
5. Place the butter and chocolate bowl on top of the saucepan and stir till butter and chocolate melt. The butter bowl should not touch the water in the saucepan.
6. Take it off heat once the butter and chocolate completely melt. Add sugar and vanilla extract and mix well.
7. Add the egg and mix till combined.
8. Add the flour and salt to this and mix well till combined.
9. Take 1/4 cup of this brownie batter and keep aside.
10. Pour the remaining batter in the baking pan and spread evenly.

11. Next prepare cream cheese layer. In a mixing bowl add the cream cheese and mix with a hand mixer just till it turns creamy.  Do not beat a lot.
12. Add sugar and egg and mix again till combined. Add vanilla extract and mix.
13. Add this cram cheese on top of the brownie layer and spread with the back of a spoon carefully. 

14. Use a teaspoon to drop dollops of the brownie batter on top of the cream cheese layer. 

15. Using a skewer or a toothpick spread the chocolate dollops so that a marble pattern is formed. 

16. Bake for about 30 minutes till cream cheese just starts to brown.
17. Remove from oven and cool completely.
18. Chill in the refrigerator for several hours.

19. Remove the brownie from the pan by lifting it using the foil.
20. Cut into squares using a serrated knife.
21. Refrigerate in an airtight container and store for several days.
